🎨 The Clay, The Craft, The Creation

the value of handmade

My ceramic pieces begin with a fundamental truth: every unique item starts with a simple cylinder on the pottery wheel. This grounding in the wheel means every single piece—even matching sets—is individually thrown by hand right here in Melbourne.

This dedication to the artisan process is why my creations carry slight variations and subtle imperfections. These are not flaws; they are the marks of the maker—the beautiful, one-of-a-kind signatures that distinguish genuine handmade pottery from mass-produced items. If you’re seeking unique, soulful pieces, you’ve come to the right place.

Style and Inspiration

I create a wide selection of functional and decorative pieces, including cups, bowls, plates, bells, and more. My style is heavily inspired by the natural world, resulting in a rustic and organic aesthetic with rich textural elements. I love to combine this with sgraffito—painting and carving designs into the leather-hard clay—often focusing on botanical motifs that balance pattern with open space for a touch of whimsy.

Quality and Durability

Rest assured, my commitment to quality is unwavering. I use only high-fired stoneware clay and glazes, which makes each item incredibly strong and durable.

  • All items are food safe.
  • All items are dishwasher safe.
  • All items are oven safe.

Finding Your Piece

As you look around the website, I hope you find something that resonates with you—either a special addition for your own home or a wonderful, one-of a-kind gift for someone you love.

I host several exclusive ‘Stock Drops’ throughout the year to replenish the shop. Keep a close eye on this site and follow me on my socials (linked below!) where I always announce the dates and times for those drops!

Custom and Commissioned Pottery

Do you have a truly unique gift, wedding piece, or specific vision in mind? That’s where commissioned work comes in. I would love to collaborate with you to create something perfectly suited and deeply special.

Choosing a commissioned piece means designing an heirloom that tells your personal story.

How We Create Together:

  1. Your Vision: We’ll start by discussing your aesthetic goals and how the pottery will be used.
  2. Logistics: We’ll clearly define the quantity, design details, turnaround time, and payment schedule upfront.
  3. Fast Fulfillment: My turnaround time is often quite quick—sometimes as little as two to four weeks—depending on the size and complexity of your order. I work hard to get your special pieces into your hands efficiently.

Please feel free to reach out and tell me about your project! Let’s start crafting that something special together.

A journey centred in clay

“Hello, I’m Renee, the ceramicist behind these pieces, working from my makeshift studio on my back deck in Melbourne’s Eastern Ranges.

My passion for pottery started early—right in a Year 9 art class. On my very first try at the wheel, I somehow managed to perfectly center the clay. It was an instant, intuitive connection that suggested this was my true niche.

Life took me on a detour through floristry, and even across the globe to Asia, and Camden County, New Jersey. While I was there, I found my way back to the wheel for a time, falling in love with the craft all over again before motherhood pressed pause.

Now, with my family back in my hometown and that ‘newborn’ now a young man, I returned to the clay with renewed focus. Pottery isn’t just a hobby; it’s a returning to my roots. I am proud to be a small-time, hobby ceramicist, crafting pieces that are both artistic and functional.

You can often find my work at the occasional market and exhibitions, and I am honoured to create ongoing commissioned ceramics for Julie at Blissful Herbs (blissfulherbs.com.au), a wonderful collaboration rooted in local wellness.

Every piece you find here is a product of that decades-long journey and that original spark of knowing what my hands were meant to do.

Please take a look around, and feel free to drop me a line. I’d love to hear your ideas or simply answer any questions!” Take a look around and drop me a line if you have any questions, or even a “Hey Renee, do you think you’d be able to make a …..?”
