A journey centred in clay

“Hello, I’m Renee, the ceramicist behind these pieces, working from my makeshift studio on my back deck in Melbourne’s Eastern Ranges.

My passion for pottery started early—right in a Year 9 art class. On my very first try at the wheel, I somehow managed to perfectly center the clay. It was an instant, intuitive connection that suggested this was my true niche.

Life took me on a detour through floristry, and even across the globe to Asia, and Camden County, New Jersey. While I was there, I found my way back to the wheel for a time, falling in love with the craft all over again before motherhood pressed pause.

Now, with my family back in my hometown and that ‘newborn’ now a young man, I returned to the clay with renewed focus. Pottery isn’t just a hobby; it’s a returning to my roots. I am proud to be a small-time, hobby ceramicist, crafting pieces that are both artistic and functional.

You can often find my work at the occasional market and exhibitions, and I am honoured to create ongoing commissioned ceramics for Julie at Blissful Herbs (blissfulherbs.com.au), a wonderful collaboration rooted in local wellness.

Every piece you find here is a product of that decades-long journey and that original spark of knowing what my hands were meant to do.

Please take a look around, and feel free to drop me a line. I’d love to hear your ideas or simply answer any questions!” Take a look around and drop me a line if you have any questions, or even a “Hey Renee, do you think you’d be able to make a …..?”
